UCTRFC Old Boys – What happened to Wayne “Dingo” Wasey – Ikeys 2005-2006

Remember Wayne the ‘Dingo’ Wasey, a Kiwi flank who joined the Ikeys at UCT for two seasons of all out rugby. Dingo was extremely versatile on an off the field and famously won the league with the UCT Eagles in 2006.

Name, Nickname:
Wayne Wasey, “Dingo”

Played at varsity when, what positions and for what teams:

2005-2006 played for the Eagles – won the league and also played a few first team games.  Flank, No.8 and lock.

Where are you now and what are you doing :

Perth Australia working in the oil and gas industry offshore

Best varsity rugby memory:

Winning the league with the eagles then the madness that followed with the bbq at the tennis club, Also having the odd beer after the games followed by a few cane and cokes also stand out.

I was renowned for:
Hopefully rugby, but more likely the madness of trying to keep up with Dguy and Coetzer in the pub!!

Best thing about UCT rugby:
Making good mates on and off the pitch, the passionate supporters, playing some good running rugby – good times.

Any guys you are still in touch with:
In touch with Dylan “Dguy” Rogers the most plus a few of the other boys thru facebook. Might try to pull through for the Cape Town 10s early 2010 depending on work commitments so might visit the beer tent for a dop or 2 then to catch up with a few familiar faces.

Do you follow the UCT Ikey Tigers and the Club:
Yeah try to as much as possible love the UCT website keeps me up to date plus the odd email helps keeps me in the loop.
