UCT teams take on The Bay

 
The teams that played the 2008 Mark Jordaan Memorial – UCT won 43:31.
On Saturday, UCT teams will step up the intensity of their pre-season matches, when they take on False Bay away on the annual Mark Jordaan memorial day. The clubs have played this trophy as a pre-season match for many years in memory of the young Mark Jordaan who had played for both teams.

The Ikeys have managed to keep the trophy in their club house for overa  decade and will try and defend it again in 2009. The game has been given a new twist scince 2008, because a lot of UCT players are playing in the Varsity Cup and not available for this classis club clash. UCT A won last years high scoring and equally entertaining match 43:31.

False Bay have recruited a number of players from Villagers and other clubs, among them former UCT and Border Bulldogs lock Lungelo Payi, they are again captained by former UCT player Justin van Winkel.
