UCT Take On Brackenfell

Andile Majola

As the WP Super League A starts to move towards the business end of the competition UCT take on Brackenfell in a game that will go a long way in determining the two sides final log positions.

Brackenfell finds themselves just a few points adrift of 4th place with two games in hand over the team above them. UCT, on the other hand, find themselves in a very strong position as they are 3rd on the log with games in hand over the teams above them.

UCT will look to complete another clean sweep on the mile as all the sides will be in action on Saturday. The UCT Swifts kick off the day’s action with a match against the CPUT Woman at CPUT before the rest of the day’s action moves to the Green Mile. On the Green Mile the U20A’s begin the festivities with a 12:15 kick-off against Brackenfell U20A.

At 13:30 The Bears will be taking on Brackenfell 3rd XV as they look to continue their charge towards the playoff spots. The UCT 2nd XV will be up against the Brackenfell 2nd XV at 14:40 as they look to keep their grip on their strong log position in their league.

At 16:00 the main event kicks off as the UCT 1st XV go up against Brackenfell 1st XV in a match that is sure to be explosive as both teams have it all to play for going into the final few rounds of the competition.

For UCT this match will serve as great preparation as they prepare for their match next week against False Bay who currently sit above them on the log in 2nd place. The rival between False Bay and UCT means that there will be a lot more than just log points on offer as the two sides go head to head next week.

The Ikeys Pub & Grind will be open tomorrow serving food and refreshments throughout the day. For the rugby purists, Saturday 27 July will have no shortage of epic rugby action throughout the day to keep you entertained so come down to the Mile to watch some of the best running rugby in the Cape.
