The 2025 season was nothing short of remarkable for UCT RFC — a year defined by historic moments, standout performances, and unforgettable milestones across all our teams.

Our 1st XV etched their name into the history books by being crowned 2025 Varsity Cup Champions, defeating Maties with a commanding 44–21 victory in the final.

The U20 Young Guns also made history, reaching the Varsity Cup final for the very first time since the competition’s inception. Although they narrowly fell short against Wits, their campaign was a powerful testament to the depth of talent and determination within our ranks.

In league competitions, every team proudly flew the UCT RFC flag. The 1st XV advanced to the quarterfinals before bowing out against Hamiltons, while the Young Guns delivered a flawless campaign — going undefeated throughout the league, winning the title, and capping their season with the U20 Intervarsity Championship.

Our 1st XV also enjoyed a historic run in their rivalry against Maties, facing them six times across various competitions — including the Varsity Cup, SLA, friendlies, and USSA. Out of those six encounters, UCT claimed three memorable victories, securing:

Another landmark achievement of the season was the launch of our first-ever women’s 15s league team. In their debut season, they made an immediate impact — highlighted by a memorable victory over Maties.

It has been an unforgettable season filled with success, history-making achievements, and valuable lessons. As we look ahead, UCT RFC is determined to build on this momentum and make the 2026 season even bigger and better.
