UCT flyhalf set for Currie Cup debut

Young UCT flyhalf Matt Rosslee is set for his WP Currie Cup debut, after he has been selected to bench against  the Sharks at Newlands on  Friday night. With regular starter Willem de Waal (out for 3 months) as well as Springbok Peter Grant out injured and flyhalf number three Ish Dollie’s having moved to Boland the time has come to step up for the Ikeys playmaker.

WP coach Allister Coetzee has opted to start utility backline player Joe Petersen at 10 – he incidently played for Maties the last time Matt Rosslee was seen on the big screen in the Varsity Cup final in April.

Matt has worked hard in his game and proven his worth in his second season of Super League Rugby as well as playing a pivotal role in the Ikey’s phenomenal Varsity Cup campaign. Who could forget his last minute penalty from the touchline that sealed the semi final win vs Pukke on the Green Mile.

He has duly been included in the WP U21 team and also impressed in Spain recently, as part of the SA students 7s team that won the Students 7s World Cup played in Cordoba.
