The fierce rivalry between UCT and Tygerberg continues and the coveted Tiger Cup is up for grabs again this weekend. Tygerberg travel to the Green Mile as the defending champions having beaten UCT 34-33 in a tough match at Florida Park last year.

UCT will go into the game as favourites this year, having only lost one game this year against their old foe Stellenbosch earlier in the season. Tygerberg has struggled for consistency this year having won 5 from their 9 matches thus far, but as we all know rivalries like these go far beyond form going into the game.

There is a full day of rugby lined up on the Green Mile this Saturday as all teams will be in action this weekend. The day kicks off with the UCT Swifts up against Kuilsriver Women at City Park at 11:30. At the Mile the U20A side up against Tygerberg U20A as the home side look to continue their perfect streak in the competition thus far. That game kicks off at 13:20.

At 13:30 The 3rd XV, The Bears, take on Tygerberg 3rd XV as their quest to make the playoffs this season continues. They currently find themselves at 5th on the log but with games in hand over the opposition and only 3 points off the pace find themselves in a strong position to achieve their goals.

At 14:40 the 2nd XV go head to head against Tygerberg 2nd XV in a match that is sure to raise the heart rate around the stadium. The two teams come into this fixture having only lost one game each thus far in the competition and this game may go a long way in deciding who ultimately finishes above the other come the end of the competition.

The 1st XV game kicks off at 16:00 and it’s sure to be a classic as the Tigers clash to take home the much desired Tiger Cup. The Ikeys Pub and Grind will be open all day serving food and refreshments. Come down to the mile and fill the stands as the Ikeys look to continue their impressive run of form in the WP Super A League.
