Three Tigers for Province

New Western Province coach Allister Coetzee has named a young team to play in a friendly against a South
Eastern Cape selection (Bulldogs / Elephants) in East London this weekend. A number of WPs stars and senior players are on a two week post S14 recovery while others are in the Bok mix. Coetzee included three varsity players, lock Rito Hlungwane who has been one of Province’s solid performers during the Vodacom Cup as well as UCT’s Varsity Cup hero, scrum half Danie van der Merwe, who also has Vodacom Cup experience.

Young hooker Mark Goosen has recoverd from a hand injury just in time to get the nod. Province is currently a bit streched on hookers, with Schalk Britz in the extended Bok squad and Tian Liebenberg as well as Springbok Hanyani Shimange out injured, so this is a great opportunity for the Ikey youngster. Good luck  to "Goose" who has played very well during the Varsity Cup and the league and will probably feature in the WP20 team later this year.
