It was another hum dinger of a final as Steinhoff Cobras played Steinhoff Nadoes in yet another Steinhoff UCT Internal League Final. The Res – League Final was a precursor of what was to expect in the A-League Final.
Steinhoff Health Sciences, newbies to the Steinhoff Internal league had a match of their lives as they took on the Vetrans of this completion, Steinhoff Shebeen Boys. Both teams gave it their all with Mike Nel pulling the strings for the Steinhoff Health Sciences team and Mr Concussion himself Shaun Fickling ever so aggressive for the Shebeen Boys.
Both teams had an opportunity to win it showed that experience counts for more than youth. Steinhoff Shebeen Boys out scrummed and beat the Steinhoff Health Sciences team to each breakdown and this was the vital aspect of the game that won it for Steinhoff Shebeen Boys.
In the A – League Final Steinhoff Nadoes and Steinhoff Cobras gave us a final of note, having the lead shift hands at every kick of that oval ball. Steinhoff Nadoes lost their kicker in the early stage of the game and gave the kicking duties to Flanker, Shawn Tyson who gave the Nadoes a six point lead. Bring into action man of the match Warren Butler who just could not miss from his boot. Warren scored all 15 points from all angles of the park.
The Steinhoff Cobras number 10 gave them a 12 – 06 lead but that lead was short lived as Steinhoff Nadoes took the lead with a well work try taking the score to 12 – 13. Will Seconds to play and maybe just a lapse in concentration by the Nadoes gave a penalty away. Guess who stepped up to the plate? Yep none other than Mr cool himself Warren Butler slotting it as cool as ever, winning what was one of the best finals in years.
