Stanford vs UCT Ikey Tigers to open World University Rugby Cup

Standford University will take on the FNB UCT Ikey Tigers in the opener of the inaugural World University Rugby Cup on Tuesday 15th September in Oxford.

The pools are drawn and  teams were paired geographically, to ensure representation from the North, South, East and West in each pool:
·         North – Oxford & Trinity College
·         South – Cape Town & NZ Universities
·         East – Waseda & Federal Siberian
·         West – Stanford & British Columbia

The Ikey Tigers pool consists of:
Oxford University (OURFC) UK, University of Cape Town (UCT) RSA, Waseda University (WU) Japan and Stanford University (SU) USA.

The pool matches are shortened to 40minutes to allow for a compact tournament and will look to provide fast, high intensity games. UCT will play both Stanford and Waseda University on the first day and will face Oxford on Friday 18th September.

The team to represent UCT will get introduced at the UCT RFC Black Tie Dinner to be held on Thursday 10 September at Kelvin Grove – just days before they travel to the UK.
