Stormers and Western Povince hooker Hanyani Shimange has joined the Ikeys and adds some high level experience to the pack that will take on SK Walmers in the first match of the second half.
Shimmie of course has trained with the Ikeys on a number of occasions in precious years and the Springbok of 10 caps is looking forward to taking charge of the Tiger’s front row. SK Walmers meanwhile have played 15 matches compared to the Ikeys 8. They managed to win 7 and have climbed to second spot in the log with that headstart.
The Ikeys who had an excellent preparation at the RPC in Riebeek Wes (read here) last weekend and are fielding a strong team to kick off a tough week, that will see them tackle SK and Victorians away, as well as English top club Saracens next week Friday.
The students have to do without veteran prop Fish Hove who unfortunately had to cut his season short – ( read here) ) . Dave Edgar and Marvin Christians are still out injured, while experienced fullback Dave Clayton has recovered from a hand fracture and should be back in action with the UCT Eagles.
