Rosslee slots last second winner
Tigers flyhalf Matthew Rosslee landed a late penalty to secure a crucial 24-22 win for his side’s win over FNB Tukkies in a crucial Varsity Cup Round Four match in Pretoria on Monday.
Rosslee had had an opportunity to clinch a win against Maties in the last minute of the Ikey’s first match, but didn’t quite make it – this time around he was on target and had his team and the Blue and White fans delirious!
Maties beat Pukke at home and head the log now, Tukkies and Ikeys are both on 15 points – two behind Stellenbosch - but the Pretoria team hold onto second place on a better points differential.
UCT scored two tries through Therlow Pietersen and Marcello Sampson to Tuks one, by Gerhard van der Merwe who had scored after a turn – over in the first minute.
The Ikeys were more accurate and Tuks didn’t have the best day at the office, with plenty of handling errors and misjudged kicks, one of which lead to Sampson’s try.
Well done to UCT for fighting back after being 10:0 down and making the better of the wet, slippery conditions.
