Preview UCT vs DurbBell
No rest for the wicked. Only four days after the Varsity Cup final, the UCT 1st XV will start their Superleague campaign with a home game vs Durbanville/Bellville on Friday night.
All league matches, originally scheduled for Saturday have been moved to Friday night by the WP RFU, in an attempt to "free up" Saturdays for the Stormers home games.
This takes a valuable rest day away from the Ikeys team that has come off a demanding Varsity Cup competition, that included a three matches in five days bumber weekend in George. UCT’s request to play all matches on Friday, but have the 1st team match postponed to Saturday, was turned down by Durbanville Bellville.
The team is reshuffled slightly, as UCT coach John Dobson will now be able to draw in some of the UCT stalwarts, that were illegible in the Varsity Cup due to the U-25 regulation of the competition. Bodo Sieber is in at lock and Jody Burch takes over the captaincy and No8 jersey from the injured JJ Gagiano.
UCT will have to dig deep to tackle their first league opponents and your support on the sidelines will make a massive difference yet again – see you on the Green Mile tomorrow night.
