No points for Ikeys against SK

SK Walmers beat the visiting Ikey Tigers by 26:13 this Saturday on the Green Point Track. UCT were lacking focus and cohesion and the home side – who did not have the lengthy break that again seems to hamper the Ikeys, proved sharper on the day.

It seemed like a repeat of last season, when the Green Point track also was a fortress for the spirited SK Walmers team and too many errors proved costly for the Ikeys.

The Ikeys trailed by just 10-13 at half-time, but were eventually outdone by the reliable boot of SK centre Ignatius Prinsloo who struck two conversions, three penalties and one drop-goal for a personal tally of 16 points.

Tigers centre André Coetzer scored the team’s only try, with winger Paul Cohen contributing the rest of UCT’s points with his trusty right boot. Loose forward Jody Burch was, yet again, a star performer for the visitors.

All in all, however, it was a disappointing defeat for UCT who made a host of errors against their determined hosts – who, of course, are fighting to stave off relegation this season.
