LIONS MAKE CATS LICK THERE WOUNDS

Last night on the mile saw the Lions and the Cats face off against each other for supremacy.

The eagerly awaited battle between the ever improving Cats and the Majestic playing Lions was the pick of the matches on Green Mile last night. The Lions full of experience were definitely the favourites and they showed this at the first kick off. Lions had their first try on the Board in with just three minutes being played. Cats then stepped up their game, playing the only way they know; direct, bringing their forwards into their game plan. They did how ever come close to putting their first points on the board but some great defence from the Lions prevented this. Lions then got another try through stand in Captain Nesi scoring in the corner. Cats kept on pressing forward but kept on making mistakes. I high balled which was marked by Lions wing Ronnie Olivier was the start of another Lions try. Ronnie taking the quick tap sent Nesi through a gap in the Cats defence which he exploited brilliantly handing off to Centre Devin Dollery to score under the post. Big Will Nichol was next on the scored board after some hard work from a lineout situation. Lions went into the break with a 22 – 0 lead. After the break Catsville came out all guns blazing and was soon rewarded with their only try of the match. The last moment of brilliance came from none other than Ronnie Olivier who out ran the Cats defence to score under the post capping of a good performance on the day and winning the match 36 – 5.
Ikhaya also had a good run as they scored four tries past Marquard. Scorers for Ikhaya were Malcolm, Wade, Wes Marie and centre sensation Gerrie Els with two tries. This was a must win for Ikhaya, keeping there cup hopes alive.
Panthers had a solid run against Claredon Knights beating them 24 – 5. This was a must win situation for Panthers as well, the win now sees them in second spot in the group.
