Kraaifontein looming large for Ikeys
The Ikey Tigers take on the resurgent Kraaifontein tonight on the Green Mile. Kraaifontein, newly promoted, went through the first half of the season without a win, but have recruited new players and managed two successive victories in recent weeks against Victorians and Villagers.
UCT Head Coach John Dobson is in Italy for a couple of weeks to oversee developments at The Roman Praetorians, a team that will compete in the Magners league and Heineken Cup from next season. In his absense the Ikey Tigers are coached by Kevin Foote the former SA Sevens Captain, who also captained UCT for two seasons and has this year been involved coaching at Bishops.
The Ikeys who beat Helderberg last Friday with a solid five pointer will look to up their performance. For the Tigers scrumhalf JP Robert is out injured as is tighthead Herbie Mayosie who gets replaced by Dylan Rogers. Wes Chettey will cover prop from the bench alongside flank / 8th man JJ Gagiano, who has recovered from illness. James Martin – the 2008 Varsity Cup back of the year will be back in action soon.
The game kicks off at 9pm tonight – other times below.
