Ikeys reshuffle for Hamiltons

The Ikey Tigers have had to do some reshuffling for the crunch clash with the visiting heavies from Greenpoint this Saturday. They are set to take on Hamiltons in a crucial battle on the Green Mile at 16.00 – while the Springboks look to finally get back to winning ways at 17:00. There will be a Big Screen in the Pub, so you don’t have to miss out on either match! See you on the Mile!

Coach Kevin Foote has to do without regular skipper Nick Fenton Wells who will start for WP agains the Lions, but he welcomes back Marcel Brache who made way in the WP team for released Bok Gio Aplon.

“We didn’t have the best start to the season, but we have come back strong. Hamiltons was one of the games that we lost early on and we will be looking to make things right at the Green Mile this weekend,”  said Foote.

“Losing your captain is not ideal and while it is unfortunate that we have suffered those injuries as well this team is young and hungry and they will be giving everything on Saturday,” he concluded.

Straight running Ricky Rijs moves back to fullback in place of Therlow Pietersen who in turn takes over from the injured Tiger Bax at 13.  Mark Winter is back in the starting line up to fill Rijs’s spot on the wing.

Talented fetcher Zandy Macdonald packs down on the side of the scrum in place of Nick Fenton Wells.

Brache’s return means hard man Andre Coetzer moves to the the bench, where he is joined by hooker Dayne Danger Jans who is finally back from his injury ahead of the Varsity Cup semi final.

Another old – new face on the bench is experienced fullback James Richards who has returned from Camridge University where he captained the light blues in last year’s varsity match.
