The Ikeys Premier League

Friday the 13th, usually a day synonymous with ghastly ghosts, breathtaking terror and spooky sounds, but this Friday the 13th promises to be a little different.
The Ikeys Premier League kicks off and promises to deliver rugby with ghastly sidesteps, breathtaking collisions and loads of music and entertainment for all.
The IPL is being used as a pre-season tournament for the UCT club sides as they prepare for their upcoming Super A League season. This may sound like a “glorified” practice session but it has all the promise of teams that mean business.
In addition to the pride that comes from winning the tournament, teams are fighting for the chance to be crowned the inaugural winners of the coveted Connor Webb Trophy.
The player auction has taken place, the teams have been formed and we’re ready to kick off with round one of the competition.
The first match of the day kicks off at 6:30pm and this fixture sees ferocious Flaming Leprechauns take on the super Stepdads. The Leprechauns will look to give meaning to the old adage “Dynamite comes in small packages.”
The second fixture is between the calculating Personal Trust side when they take on the boozy themed Striped Horses. The Striped Horses will be hoping to celebrate with a few cold ones of their own after this match and should be quick coming off the blocks.
The final match of the night sees the Nick Cummins inspired Badgelors take on Carew’s Corner. If there’s one thing I’ve learned in my lifetime it’s never to mess with a honey badger, especially a single one so the men from the Corner have a tough challenge ahead of them.
The Ikeys Pub will be open serving ice cold “refreshments” and snacks throughout the fixtures so come down to the Green Mile for an evening filled with loads of banter, beer, entertainment and of course exhilarating rugby.
