Ikeys holding on to fourth spot
The FNB Ikey Tigers are set to resume their push for a top four spot on Saturday when they take on a Tygerberg RFC. Tygerberg have proven to be rather defensively sound this season, so the FNB Ikey Tigers know they have their work cut out for them if they are to come away with a bag full of points.
“Tygerberg have only lost one match so far this season, so they’re obviously a very strong and confident team. They nearly beat False Bay as well, so we know what’s waiting for us,” coach Esterhuizen said ahead of their trip to Florida Park.
The FNB Ikey Tigers are currently in fourth place having played two more games than Tygerberg, who sit in fifth place with one fewer point. It goes without saying that this is a must-win for the Ikeys if they want to hold onto their place on the log, but Tygerberg will be no pushover.
“It’s definitely going to be a challenge because this is fixture nine out of eleven in a short amount of time, so we’re really being tested in terms of our depth. But we’re going to prepare as best we can and do our homework, so we’ll see if we can go and get the win on Saturday,” Esterhuizen explained.
A total of six changes have been made to the starting XV for Saturday, with Cuan Hablutzel, Jordan Diekman, Liam Greenalgh, Charlie Chapman, and Joel Smith all set to start. Forwards Jason Klaasen and Nyasha Tarusenga are also set to start the match.
The team set to take the field:
1 Waryin Losper, 2 Cuan Hablutzel, 3 Martin Chandler, 4 Brad Bosman, 5 David Meihuizen, 6 Jason Klaasen, 7 Liam Greenalgh, 8 Nyasha Tarusenga, 9 Stef de Gouveia, 10 Lohan Lubbe, 11 Jesse Wilensky, 12 Charlie Chapman, 13 Liam Furniss, 14 Damian Rawstone, 15 Joel Smith.
Replacements:
16 Brenton Greaves, 17 Percy, 18 Jack Walters, 19 Alva Sendreyani, 20 Dylan Tydbury, 21 Tristan Mouton, 22 Rob Anderson, 23 Mabena Basanda.
