Ikeys defeat False Bay

The FNB Ikey Tigers romped to a 36-12 win over False Bay in their Southern Suburbs derby clash at the Philip Herbstein Sports Fields in Constantia.

The Ikeys led 15-7 at half-time and opened the floodgates in the second half, with free-running fullback Andrew Norton collecting a try-double for the visitors.

Flyhalf Ross Jones-Davies kicked two conversions and two penalties, with Varsity Cup stars Tiger Bax, Ntsolo Setlaba and Paul Cohen scoring five-pointers.

It was UCT's sixth win of the season and keeps them within the top five of the WP Super League standings – with several other teams having played more games than UCT following the long varsuty break.

False Bay, meanwhile, are in the thick of the relegation scrap, especially after Tygerberg's shock 35-26 win over the previously unbeaten Durbanville-Bellville side.

Durb-Bell's loss, however, would have pleased the FNB Maties who trail the leaders by 11 log points with three matches in hand.
