Ikeys bounce back against SK Walmers

UCT bounced back in style following their disappointing defeat to Tygerberg and beat SK Walmers by 30:14 in a high paced midweek fixture at the City Park. 

The Ikeys teams brought in a full haul of points as the 2nd and 3rd teams built on their strong performances against Tygerberg and comprehensively beat their SK counterparts. 

UCT scored tries via evergreen prop Wes Chetty and inside center Andrew Norton and young speedster David de Kooker on the wing. The bonus point try was scored by Tiger Bax, Ross Jones Davies converted two and landed two penalties to clock up a comprehensive 30 points. 

Meanwhile JJ Gagiano has been drafted in to the WP Currie Cup squad to provide cover for the decimated list of available backrow players – JJ was last involved in the CC squad in 2010 before joining the US Eagles on their RWC campaign. 

Ikey Tigers flank Josh Katzen who got called up to the WP U20s team and impressed off the bench last week has been promoted to start when the side takes on the Leopards.  He joins UCT team mates: Dillyn Leyds, Dylan Sage, Nick Holton, Rayn Smid, Rick Schoeder and prop Francois van Wyk who is captaining the team.

Next up in the action packed week for UCT are Belhar away on Saturday.
