Ikeys bid farewell to Villagers

UCT beat Villagers by 47:7 in the final fixture of the season – the Southern Suburbs rivals relegation was already a fact ahead of the fixture and credit must go to the team in white who were spirited and competitive to the last minute.

The Ikeys ran in seven tries to Villagers single try effort – Villagers are joined by False Bay, who also got relegated, this means two Southern Suburs sides became casualties of this year’s tough Super league competition.

Maties re-claimed the WP Crown from UCT who finished fourth. Stellenbosch ended on same points as the unlucky Durbel who only lost one match this season. Maties have the better points difference and had more bonus points to make up for their two losses to said Durbel side.

Helderberg were promoted and are back in the top flight after only one year in the SLB, they are joined by Bellville, who used to be regulars, but have had a lengthy absense from the A league. The SLA 2013 thus consists of 7 Northern Suburbs Clubs, 2 Central Cape Town clubs and UCT as the only Southern Suburbs club.
