Ikeys at USSA rugby week in Pretoria
FNB TUT are responsible for hosting the USSA Rugby week this year with a number of interesting matches taking place on day one.
A young development Ikeys team has travelled to Pretoria to compete in the USSA rugby week.
The competition works on a knock out basis with three pools of eight sides. Day one will act as a quarterfinal with the winners playing in the medal semifinals and the losers moving into the plate semifinal.
The winners of the semifinals in the medal play for the title and the rest of the sides will play for rankings.
The competition starts on a strength vs strength basis, with the Varsity Cup Universities going head to head in the opening round to allow other rugby varsities a shot at advancing.
The young UCT team who are coached by JJ Gagiano are up against NWU Pukke on day one.
The current FNB Varsity Cup champions FNB UP-Tuks take on the last-placed Varsity Cup side FNB Wits in their opening game of the week. The Wits side has been very good outside of the Varsity Cup with a great win over FNB NWU-Pukke in one of their recent league matches.
There is a replay of the Varsity Cup semifinal as FNB Maties take on FNB NMMU in their opening games of the week.
