Ikeys 7s with mixed results in Plett
UCT will be disappointed with two losses by narrow margins, which sees them missing out on the Cup round at Varsity Sports 7s in Plett.
The University of Cape Town team competed valiantly on day one of the inaugural Varsity Sports 7s tournament in Plett, but in the end went down narrowly to UWC and UJ, before being outgunned by UP Tuks and finally salvaging some pride beating TUT.

Ranked 3rd at the USSA 2011, UCT were expected to make it all the way to the final stages of the tournament, but after two narrow losses the young team will have to make do with the Plate competiton on day two.
Having already played Maties and Springbok 7s in a warm-up match, UCT were aware of the tough competition that lay ahead of them, but just lacked that bit of luck to claim an additional win to proceed to the championship. The team is coached by UCT 2nd team coach Christian Esterhuizen and includes first team regular Mark Winter, kicking ace Douglas Mallet and youngsters Mathew Heal, Darren Berry and Dale Manning.
Ikeys 7s Squad; Aiden Monk, Dale Manning, David McWade, Douglas Mallet, Farai Maramera, Gareth Theesen, Jade Kriel, Josh Rowe, Mark Winter, Mathew Healey, Nic Lassen, Olwethu Hans, Robin Murray.
