FNB UCT head coach John Dobson has named a strong side to face the table topping FNB TUKS for Monday’s Varisty Cup clash at the LC de Villiers Stadium in Pretoria.
UCT beat the University of Johannesburg 32-12 in Round Three of the FNB Varsity Cup, presented by Steinhoff International and they are currently in third position on the log, trailing the second-placed Maties by just one point.
Tukkies, along with Maties, are the only unbeaten sides in the 2009 Varsity Cup and Dobson says UCT wants to make the most of their away games.
“It is a big game,” Dobson told varsitycup.co.za. “But like I said, the guys know there is still plenty of work to be done – and there is plenty riding on the result of the Tukkies match.
“We have four away matches this season and we need to win one of those to ensure we’re in with a shout come the semifinals.”
Marvin Christians is back on the wing and strong running Sean van Tonder takes over the no12 Jersey from Pieter Engelbrecht. In the forwards, tighthead prop Brad Gornall gets a start, as does flank Michael Morris. Big Don Armand is also back in the engine room of the Ikeys pack.
