Hongkong Tens – Scatterlings win Bowl final

Bob Skinstad – the CT Tens’ legendary Tournament Host and UCT technical advisor – helped the Scatterlings of Africa claim the Bowl title at the 2009 GFI Hong Kong Football Club Tens on Thursday.

The Scatterlings, a new addition to the Hong Kong Tens, boasted not only Bob Skinstad, but also Cape Town Tens Tournament Director Ron Rutland in their playing ranks, as well as UCT star and former WP center David Edgar, who also played at the CT Tens earlier this year.

The Scatterlings had lost a narrow match too many in the pool and only came a disappointing third on the rainy and wet first day, which condemned them to the Bowl round.

The  Bowl action aside, the Aliens (from New Zealand) bounced back from an indifferent first day to win the GFI HKFC Tens Cup Final in brilliant fashion on Thursday to be crowned yet another Kiwi champion, adding to the countries eight year winning streak at the HK Tens.

Of course, South African newcomers in Hongkong, the Scatterlings of Africa, carried off the Bowl title with a 19-0 victory over the Irish Vikings.

Dave Edgar and co will now attend and no doubt have some post Tens beers at the Hongkong Sevens this weekend and may just hook up with Ikeys 7s stars Mpho Mbiyozo, Kyle Brown (for the Boks) and Dallen ‘Paki’ Stanford (for the US Eagles).
