UCT’s Varsity Cup-winning scrumhalf Nic Groom celebrated his Super Rugby debut for the Stormers after coming off the bench in Saturday’s crucial clash against the Cheetahs in Bloemfontein.
The Ikey Tigers and Western Province No.9 has been knocking on the Stormers door for some time now and an 11th hour injury to Dewaldt Duvenage has given him his big – and well-deserved – chance.
Groom added some neat touches when he came on with twenty minutes to go and it is likely the Super stage will see more of the talented youngster in the future.
The Stormers now have a week’s rest and will then play the higher ranking winner of the Blues vs NSW or Crusaders vs Sharks clash.
