FNB UCT Travel Back To Potch

In round six of the FNB Varsity Cup The Ikey Tigers travel up to the Fanie du Toit Sports Ground to take on the runners up from last year FNB NWU Pukke.

The last time these two sides met it was on the Green Mile and the men from Cape Town put in an incredibly gutsy performance to pull off a stunning 18 – 15 victory against the men from Potchefstroom.

The Pukke side of 2019 is largely unchanged and boasts a lot of talent and experience which make them a very dangerous side to play, especially on their home turf. A home turf where FNB UCT also share fond memories of an epic victory back in 2014.

Both sides are coming off the back of tough losses. Pukke received a tough 15 -43 drubbing against the defending champions at home whilst FNB UCT narrowly lost to FNB Shimlas down at Shimla Park so both sides will be incredibly eager to get back to winning ways.

Throughout the 2019 season the Ikey Tigers have blown hot and cold. With 2 wins out of 4 a victory in this match is crucial for their playoff aspirations. With a solid pack upfront and a strong set piece their style of play has really allowed the backs to flourish and they’ll be hoping to be the difference on the day.

Over the years the results between these two sides have been tough to call as they see-saw between defeat and victory but with sides hungry to finish 2019 in a strong position on the log this match is sure to be an epic encounter.

The match kicks off at 18:30 on Monday, follow us on Twitter (@ikeytigers) for score updates and results.

The Cubs will also be in action and will look to continue their fine form against the Pukke Young Guns as they continue on their journey for a playoff spot.
