Engelbrecht for Lions against WP
Ikeys powerhouse Pieter Engelbrecht who will play for the Lions at Newlands this weekend had a bit of time for some quick questions about John Mitchell, the Currie Cup and the Soccer vibe at Ellis Park.
uctrfc.co.za:
Thanks Poot for chatting to us, ,uch appreciated. Lets get right into it, you guys started with a good win last weekend, so things are looking positive. How is John Mitchell as a coach?
Pieter Engelbrecht:
John Mitchell has been great to work with. He has plenty of Rugby knowledge and one can learn a lot from him. He genuinely cares about the cause and fully commited to it as well. I think it would be great if he stayed on for the Super 14.
uctrfc.co.za:
Great to hear. You have been playing wing and center, what position will you be playing for the Lions this CC season?
Pieter Engelbrecht:
I will play predominantly centre, I feel most comfortable there and can add most value to the team in that position.
uctrfc.co.za:
How many matches did you play in the 2009 CC and how good do you think your chances are to get some more game time this year?
Pieter Engelbrecht:
I was involved in ten games last year and played in eight of them. I hope to add a couple more to that tally this year.
uctrfc.co.za: Looks like you can kick off your 2010 tally this weekend! Speaking of the big 2010 – Did you get a chance to watch any soccer games? Maybe after training at Ellis Park?
Pieter Engelbrecht: I was lucky enough to watch two games…USA vs Slovenia at ellis park with my mate (and US Eagle) Todd Clever, what a vibe! I also watched the quarter final, Germany vs Argentina in cape town, amazing experience!
uctrfc.co.za: Awesome it was! Good luck this weekend!
Pieter Engelbrecht: Thanks, maybe I’ll bump into some of the boys.
