Villagers RFC will host UCT on Saturday in the Super League’s Southern Suburbs derby. The Ikeys come off a big win against Kraaifontein on Wednesday, whereas Villagers will be hurting after a close and hard fought 11:14 home loss to the same side last weekend.
Villagers have had a poor season and are sitting dangerously close to the bottom of the table with only two matches to play. The facts are undeniable, but derby games have their own rules, so the home team will certainly come out firing when they host the students.
UCT coach Kevin Foote has selected a strong team that features three changes, with comeback kid James Martin on the wing and US Eagles forward JJ Gagiano at 8.
Lock Michael Passaportis is back after a short stint playing Currie Cup in the Eastern Cape and comes back into the team for the injured Don Armand.
