Brave Ikeys lose to Hamilton’s

FNB UCT suffered a heart-breaking 24-29 defeat to Hamilton's in their WP Super League encounter in Green Point on Wednesday night.
The Ikeys held a slender 16-14 lead at the half-time break, before going into the last five minutes with the scores deadlocked at 24-24 – that after the lead had changed hands a few times.
However, a last-ditch effort from the home side saw them snatch the win – the winning try, deep into injury-time, coming after some 32 phases of play.
For UCT, flyhalf Nick Holton contributed 19 points, whilst No.8 Rayn Smid scored a try, with American Eagles loose forward JJ Gagiano being the pick of the Ikeys players on display.
Unfortunately injuries to Smid and lock Brad Bosman made life uncomfortable for the visitors who were forced to play most of the match with reserve prop Digby Webb in the second row.
UCT will host SK Walmers at the Green Mile this Saturday (kick-off 3.30pm), before taking on False Bay (also at home) the following Saturday.
The Ikeys will travel to Stellenbosch to play Varsity Cup rivals, the FNB Maties, on Saturday, May 26.
