Bax is Ikey number three for Province

Tiger Bax had just taken off his UCT stripes after Monday’s disappointing semi final loss to Pukke, when he had his next set of stripes already waiting. Bax  joined fellow Ikeys Jody Burch and Martin Muller in the Western Province Team to play against Boland on the weekend.

Muller, the athletic Ikeys lock who turned 21 on Monday only had a very short stint at this years Varsity Cup, before he got picked up by WP. Hard running UCT backrower Jody Burch was too ‘old’ for the VC at 26 years, so he probably didn’t mind the call up to WP at all and quickly made a name for himself in the side.

Vodacom WP coach Jerome Paarwater’s team will contest the local darby against Boland at City Park, Athlone, on Saturday 28 March. Kick-off is at 16h00.

Boland of course feature last years UCT VC star scrumhalf Danie vd Merwe, as well as Ikeys lock Rito Hlungwane.
